Mission
Conservation of hawaii resources
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
In 2025 Kohanaiki Ohana maintained and expanded the native plant garden which includes over 40 varieties of food, medicine, and cordage plants and trees. We maintained a native plant nursery with over 500 plants propagated from seeds and cuttings. Many of these plants were up-potted and out- planted to the ooma parcel. Activities with students and community included anchialine pond restoration, planting, weeding, watering, raking and installing irrigation systems. We provided several cultural and educational workshops and workdays during the school year.
$60,677 spent40% of program spendingIn 2025 the Kohanaiki Ohana continued the stewardship project on the ooma open space parcel which is owned by the county of hawaii. Work included removal of invasive plants from approximately 5 acres of shoreline and replanting the area with native species that we raised from seeds and cuttings in our nursery. Maintenance work included watering, weeding, irrigation, propagating and constant care to help the plants thrive and re-establish the natural ecosystem.
$79,874 spent53% of program spendingKohanaiki Ohana hosted and organized the 28th annual keiki surf for the earth and beach clean up to celebrate earth day in 2025. Over 150 children 14 years old and younger participated in the contest, and all family members participated in the beach clean-up. This year featured the dedication and blessing of the new lifeguard tower and safety equipment at the beach park. The keiki also painted colorful signs with messages to keep the beach clean, drive slow, and live with aloha. These signs are painted and recycled each year and placed along the road along the kohanaiki shoreline.
$8,748 spent6% of program spendingOperating costs such as accounting services, post office box rent, office supplies, meeting refreshments, materials and tools are ongoing expenses to maintain our organizations work. The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2022, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2022, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $74k to $92k (+24%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
