What Knott Alone--Hold Fast does
Mission
Knott Alone-Hold Fast supports Veterans and First Responders battling the effects of service while helping prevent suicide and love life again through hands-on commercial fishing waterman and other coastal activities combined with integrative therapy. We are a nature-based work program with available temporary housing to provide a sense of belonging and purpose while working on the water and other projects to educate and help the environment. The work ranges from crabbing oystering fishing and aquaculture to building public walking trails and cleaning up the waterways by removing trash and derelict gear and vessels. We also help educate the community on issues affecting veterans and first responders along with things effecting the coastal environment.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Program
On-Water Activity: Conducted over 100 Commercial Fishing and Aquaculture trips as the primary foundation for our nature-based work programming for veterans and first-responders. Each trip lasting roughly 3 hours of on-water work time supporting 3-4 personnel. These trips provided countless opportunities to connect with program participants to encourage engagement and promote healing through many different avenues as conditions allow. Other support: Completed and maintained over 4.5 miles of coastal nature trails on public lands around our facility to provide public access to the Chesapeake Bay and an additional work nature avenue for program use. Managed all gear and boat maintenance internally as part of workflow and support program. Presented at 45 community events to promote mental health awareness. Organized weekly community dinners serving over 675 individuals. Offered temporary housing for participants totaling approximately 1480 room stays.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2024, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2024, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2024 to 2025, from $104k to $135k (+29%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2024 3%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
92% of Knott Alone--Hold Fast’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (84% for the typical peer).
