What King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company does
Mission
The King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company is an all volunteer organization whose mission is to provide cost effective emergency response service and awareness programs to the people inhabiting, employed in and visiting upper merion township, in order to mitigate hazards and preserve life and property as requested by the municpality, required by statute, or deemed necessary by chief officers.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Program
The King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company has only one program goal, preservation of life and property, through hazard mitigation and education. In 2000, the company was the first all-volunteer fire service to become accredited by the commission on fire service accreditation. In 2008, the company received recognition from the office of the state fire commissioner for meeting or exceeding the nationally recognized training standards. Also in 2008, the company was recognized by the department of health, through montgomery county, for meeting the standards for advanced level rescue operations. In 2009, the company was recognized by the international association of chiefs for its fire and life safety program. In 2011, the company joined forces with two other fire companies to form a regional rescue task force. The task force brings about common operational procedures, expanded training and reduction in equipment duplication. All is done to meet our mission described above.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2017 to 2018, from $1.6M to $2.1M (+29%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2017 63% · 2018 54% · 2019 67% · 2020 78% · 2021 77% · 2022 76% · 2023 76% · 2024 72%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
