01What it does

What Italian Educational & Cultural Ctr does

Mission

The Italian Educational and Cultural Center (IECC) has a two-fold mission. To provide access to quality programs and exhibits in the visual, performing and cultural arts and to assist Italian social services agency, Patronato Acli (PA), provide social services to senior citizens of low and moderate income residing in Jersey City and Hudson County. The arts programs consist of high quality art exhibits, music concerts, book readings and other cultural events. In the area of Social services, IECC provides consultant services to PA personnel. These services include securing Social Security pensions from the Italian Government, securing pensions under special agreement between the USA and Italy, providing immigration guidance relating to Alien Registration cards, application and guidance for US naturalization, guidance to dual citizenship, providing paralegal services and guidance on legal matters, and providing medical guidance, including referrals to physicians and making appointments.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Since one of the primary goals of the IECC is to make the arts more readily available to the residents of the community and during the past year a series of virtual art exhibits, musical performances and/or literary and cultural events were provided to the public at very little or no cost. A key objective of the program is to utilize the great abundance of talent located within the City of Jersey City and Hudson County, NJ. The program will continue to showcase artists, musicians and authors who reside within the local community.

  2. Consultant services to Patronato Acli personnel providing social services to senior citizens needing assistance in dealing with the Italian government becomes more demanding each year. Due to Patronato Acli's extensive and constant networking and liaison activities, there is continued demand for social services assistance. It is expected that this trend will continue for demographic, social and economic reasons. The average age of the immigrant population is increasing as is the level of technological expertise required to obtain basic public services. It is anticipated that the organization will provide continued assistance and services to senior citizens during the current year.

How concentrated its funding is

ITALIAN EDUCATIONAL & CULTURAL CTR leans on a few funders — its largest provides 60% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

60% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund ITALIAN EDUCATIONAL & CULTURAL CTR.
