01What it does

What Iron Sharpens Iron WAST Inc CO Jamarcus Fields does

Mission

To empower and transform the lives of inner-city youth and those incarcerated through mentorship, guidance, and support. We create a positive and nurturing environment that fosters personal growth, educational advancement, discovering potential, building life skills, and successful reintegration into society.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. Iron Sharpens Irons ISI is a group of justice-involved men who provide mentorship and life skills training to at-risk and justice-involved teens and adults. Having been a former resident, our founder, JaMarcus Fields, was first granted access by Warden Charles Bowen to return to the South Bend Community Re-Entry Center as a volunteer. These frequent personal visits eventually gave birth to a partnership between the Re-Entry Center and ISI. The Iron Men- the name given to the men who facilitate programming for ISI- currently facilitate monthly programming, breathing life and hope into the residents of the Re-Entry Center with their personal stories of overcoming challenges and experiencing success post incarceration. ISI has established similar partnerships with the Pendleton Correctional Facility maximum security and the DePaul Academy within the St. Joseph County Juvenile Justice Center where we present monthly or quarterly programming to the men and teens housed there. In January 2024, we began facilitating weekly programming for at-risk teens at the Tolson Center for Community Excellence in Elkhart, Indiana.

The program described on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Iron Sharpens Iron WAST Inc CO Jamarcus Fields’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of Iron Sharpens Iron WAST Inc CO Jamarcus Fields's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $15k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
