Under the direction of the delaware & lehigh heritage cooridor, inc.(d&l), the national canal museum (ncm) is accredited by the american alliance of museums and is a smithsonian affiliate. The ncm redesigned their welcome center and has 14 interactive exhibits detailing 19th and 20th century life and technology. The museum's collections reflect the material culture and document the history of america's canals and navigable rivers, as well as canal-related industries in the lehigh valley. The musuem preserves original artifacts within a linear mile of catalogued archives.
