01What it does

What Gunthers Family does

Mission

Gunther's family provides assistance to charitable organizations based in the US and abroad for the welfare of animals, marginalized communitites, women, and children. We focus on small organizations who, because of size, stage of formation, lack of resources or location may not effiencently manage donations on their own.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. In the third year of operation as a 501c3 entity, Gunther's Family continued assisting Ernesto's Sanctuary (also referred to as Ernesto's House of Cats), an NGO registered in Cremona, Italy, with managing donations for the animal sanctuary and clinic they operate in Syria. Gunther's Family has an OFAC license to allow donors to use PayPal and Wells Fargo bank to give to the Sanctuary. Ernesto's engaged in extensive animal rescue and humanitarian work in their community and beyond. Funds for the sanctuary went to increase service capacity such as equipment, vet supplies, food, and staffing. As in previous years, Gunther's Family received donations earmarked for the Sanctuary and then sent those funds to the Sanctuary's office in Italy to help fund its charitable activities. Gunther's Family set up Donorbox as a new giving platform for donors, which provides improved donor tracking and communications. Finally, Gunther's Family regularly communicated with the Sanctuary to ensure that its activities are in compliance with all applicable OFAC and IRS requirements. Gunther's Family makes all donors aware that funds earmarked for other entities are the property of Gunther's Family and…

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of GUNTHERS FAMILY’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of GUNTHERS FAMILY's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $52k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
