What Greater Alton Concert Association Foundation does
Mission
In September 1941, some interested Altonians set forth a plan to bring professional musicians, dancers, and theater to Alton and the surrounding communities. Through a long association with The Monticello College campus and then when it became the Lewis & Clark Community College with GACAF performances continuing to be in Hatheway Hall. In 1999 we became a foundation, making it easier to accept larger donations from individuals and corporations. GACAF, a not-for-profit organization, continues to operate with a no-hired personnel policy. Our Board of Directors volunteer their time and services in carrying on the business of the organization. GACAF has provided everyone in the area the opportunity to embrace and embellish their cultural life, in the realm of music, dance and theater. The purposes for which the Foundation is organized are exclusively charitable, artistic, and educational.
As stated on its FY2019 Form 990-EZ.
Program
The Greater Alton Concert Association, Inc. Foundation, GACA, since 1941, provides the Greater Alton Illinois, Riverbend community and surrounding counties the opportunity to embrace and embellish their cultural life, in the realm of music, and theater performing arts. -- Using a non-profit approach, we strive to cultivate in the citizens, of our area, an interest in fine arts productions of music, art, dance and theater to build and maintain an audience, for educational and cultural purposes through presenting artistic events to our community.-- Funding for these fine performances of music, art, dance, and theatrical productions is provided by annual subscriptions, patrons, corporate donations and advertising sponsors.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2017 to 2018, from $38k to $32k (−15%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 2 of the last 3 reported years ran a deficit.
