Program
Hillsborough county has over 100 schools that were built pre-1986 and therefore are at risk of being built with lead materials. Many drinking water sources in these schools contain lead piping which has caused high levels of lead to be found in the drinking water. These drinking water sources can be outfitted with water filters, specifically the nsf/ansi standard 53 filter, which will reduce the lead concentration in these water sources to 1 part per billion and below. Get the Lead Out Hillsborough Inc. Is raising funds to purchase the nsf/ansi standard 53 filter and will recruit volunteers to install the filters in hillsborough county schools. This will reduce the amount of lead concentration in the schools' drinking water and ultimately benefit the health of the schools' children.
