01What it does

What Federal Bar Association Oregon Chapter does

Mission

The mission of the association is to strengthen the federal legal system and administration of justice by serving the interests and the needs of the federal practitioner, both public and private, the federal judiciary and the public they serve.

As stated on its FY2022 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. Education: the Federal Bar Association Oregon Chapter (fba-oregon) sponsors and organizes several continuing legal education seminars throughout the year. Guest speakers include attorneys, judges, and scholars who volunteer to speak on a particular topic. (speakers are not paid.) lawyers who attend these seminars receive credits to be applied to their continuing legal education requirements as required by the oregon state bar. Supporting youth interest in the legal profession: the fba-oregon runs the haggerty scholars program. High school students who apply and are selected to participate are placed in a legal internship during the summer, and the students receive an assigned mentor to provide advice and guidance through the school year as the students prepare to apply for colleges. The fba-oregon also assists the ninth circuit court of appeals in the administration of a high school student civics essay contest, including obtaining donations from board members' law firms to distribute as small cash prizes (less than $500 each) to the contest winners. Supporting law students and new lawyers: fba-oregon regularly sponsors meetings and social events to support all oregon attorneys…

Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
