The meltdown's mission is to promote the growth and preservation of bluegrass music as an original art form of american folk art by presenting public festivals, performances, workshops, and other events of an educational and participatory nature.

The durango bluegrass meltdown was founded in 1995 by several bluegrass enthusiasts. We are a volunteer-led non-profit organization promoting bluegrass music through an annual bluegrass festival every april and through our meltdown kids music outreach programs.
