01What it does

What Dimmit Regional Hospital does

Mission

Excellent care to each patient, no exceptions.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Provided medical care to residents in the dimmit county area and surrounding communities, including but not limited to 177 surgeries; 9,520 emergency room visits; 1015 admissions including observations and 1,889 acute and swing bed patient days.

  2. This year, our specialty clinic significantly expanded the scope of care available to our community. We introduced orthopedic services, giving patients access to expert treatment for joint, bone, and musculoskeletal conditions without needing to travel outside the area, reducing delays in care and easing the financial and logistical burden on patients seeking specialized treatment elsewhere. We also added general surgery services and procedures, allowing patients to receive surgical care closer to home in a familiar setting, supported by our own clinical teams and continuity of care before and after their procedures. To further support these efforts, we implemented a range of ancillary services designed to improve efficiency and quality of care across the board. Our fast track services help reduce overflow in the emergency department by directing lower-acuity cases to a quicker, more appropriate level of care, shortening wait times for all patients and allowing ed staff to focus on higher-acuity needs. We increased our utilization of swingbed services, giving patients recovering from illness or surgery the opportunity to continue their recovery locally, close to family and support…

  3. We continue to strive to live out our mission statement by providing excellent care to each patient, no exceptions. This is done through ensuring our staff is equipped with all the necessary tools, education, and resources to excel in their roles. There was a year-over-year increase ed volumes, leading to incremental expenditures and staffing for that department, along with downstream volume increases in laboratory and radiology services. By adding resources to these ancillary departments, it led us to be more efficient in ed throughput. Some of the major purchases for the 2025 fiscal year included our new patient and staff safety initiatives such as cameras and cloud services for visual backup, aligned with workplace violence protocols. Other investments included a new or air handler unit, ensuring patient safety (infection prevention) and comfort. We also signed an agreement with dms for onsite mri services through a mobile unit, aligning with our orthopedic services.
