The wind ensemble has earned the "otto kraushaar" award for the past 6 years from the florida bandmasters association which recognizes bands that earn superior ratings from every single adjudicator throughout the year. This award is given to less than 10% of high school bands across the state. Bands from deland hs have performed in the savannah st. Patricks day parade in 2026, the chicago international music festival in 2025, the jazz educators national conference in 2024, the national memorial day parade in 2023, and carnegie hall in 2022.
