What Crystal Theatre Inc does
Mission
Crystal Theatre is an educational and Community Theatre that seeks to promote and present original works of art and classic musicals and plays while striving to develop the individual strengths and talents of our students and participants in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.
Programs
Crystal Theatre produced 12 children's class/shows, 10 of which were our own original musicals, serving over 350 different and repeat students and entertaining thousands of audience members. We also presented multiple adult Community Theatre plays and shows providing opportunities for the entire Fairfield County community of performers to express their artistic talents, enriching the lives of the actors and viewers as well. In addition we held 3 different summer multi-arts camps.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $75k to $118k (+57%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2021 5% · 2022 8% · 2023 5% · 2024 3%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
11% of CRYSTAL THEATRE INC’s revenue is contributions — more earned-revenue than three-quarters of its peers (64% for the typical peer).

From the IRS filings of CRYSTAL THEATRE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
CRYSTAL THEATRE INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 63% of grant income and the top three 95%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
29% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund CRYSTAL THEATRE INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 92% · 2018 98% · 2019 100% · 2020 80% · 2021 100% · 2022 61% · 2023 50% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
