What Comite Mexicano Inc does
Mission
We promote Mexican art and culture, identify services that help and support Mexican residents, and support academic and social research related to the Mexican community in the Greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio area.
As stated on its FY2021 Form 990-EZ.
Program
The impact of our efforts was extremely positive, and the community gave us excellent feedback. We were able to connect with more than 1,000 local Hispanics through social media events such as Facebook Live. We were able to gather valuable information regarding COVID-19 awareness because of the trust factor associated with our team. As a result of our efforts, we were able to establish several trustworthy sources that provided continuous interaction with the Hispanic community across social media and discussion forums. Pertinent COVID-19 outreach goals: 1. Reach out to more than 1,500 Hispanics in the target area and have at least 1-2 interactions to share information about Covid relief. 2. Illuminated the misconceptions regarding COVID-19 symptoms and vaccination in Spanish and English via a series of virtual meetings, informal conversations, utilizing multiple networks that have access to the Hispanic community and utilizing resources such as Facebook Live with leading Covid-19 experts. 3. Strengthen the link between trusted institutions and the Hispanic community to establish reliable sources that would keep them up to date on COVID-19 prevention methods, treatment options,…

Who funds it, year by year
2021 → 2022: the base held at 1 funder, grant income fell $60k → $15k.
1 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 80% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of COMITE MEXICANO INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
COMITE MEXICANO INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 80% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund COMITE MEXICANO INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2021 100% · 2022 100% — broadly stable.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
80% of COMITE MEXICANO INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $15k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from Ohio funders.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $60k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
