What Coalition for the Capital Crescent Trail Inc does

Mission

Support and protect the Capital Crescent Trail.

As stated on its FY2021 Form 990-EZ.

Program

We have continued to support construction of a paved extension of the Capital Crescent Trail from Bethesda to Silver Spring and the inclusion of a tunnel under Wisconsin Ave for users of the trail. We advocated for and testified before the Montgomerey County Council to explain the need for the tunnel to link the Ourisman Plaza trailhead with the one in the Elm Street Park. Despite opposition from the County Executive, the County Council has agreed to include the tunnel in the capital budget contigent on access to funding. We have advocated with the National Park Service on the need to repave the DC section of the trail. It has finally committed to do so. We have had similar discussions with Montgomery Parks on the need for a trail rehabilitation for the section of the trail in Montgomerry County and this is under consideration. We have had discussions with DC authorities on the need to address the erosion of the trail and trail embankment in the Palisades area. The National Park Service and DC Department of Transportation have corrected the problem. In discussions witht the DC authorities, we have pressed them on the need for better access to the trail from NW DC. The DC DOT is…

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

81% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund COALITION FOR THE CAPITAL CRESCENT TRAIL INC.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $58k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
