What Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association does
Mission
To promote the rule of law and the legal profession by supporting, empowering and celebrating our members and the community.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Programs
Committees: cmba assists the supreme court of ohio in the administration of the legal profession through the work of several member committees: the certified grievance committee investigated nearly 200 allegations of ethical misconduct by lawyers; the bar admissions committee conducted 250 character and fitness interviews of bar applicants; and the unauthorized practice of law committee investigated allegations of non-lawyers practicing law.
Events & programs: cmba hosts a variety of annual events and programs for the benefit of its 4700 members. Events include a summertime annual meeting, golf outing, bench-bar memorial program and a new lawyers reception. Cmba also operates 15 civics education, pro bono and workforce development programs designed to promote the rule of law, increase access to justice and advance the next generation of legal professionals.
Continuing legal education: cmba annually hosts approximately 150 continuing legal education programs, both in-person and virtually. Programs are also made available through an on-demand platform. More than 10,000 individuals attended cmba programs in the 2024-25 fiscal year.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2020 to 2021, from $1.3M to $1.9M (+47%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
0% of CLEVELAND METROPOLITAN BAR ASSOCIATION’s revenue is contributions — more earned-revenue than three-quarters of its peers (61% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves

Leadership and staff
The officers, directors, trustees and key employees listed on each return. Joined and no longer listed compare each filing with the year before, matching people by surname and first initial; a year after a gap, or a roster under three people, has no comparison.
