01What it does

What Cdfi Friendly Bloomington Inc does

Mission

The organizations purpose is to strengthen the communities of bloomington, monroe county and the neighboring regions of south central indiana, and improve the economic conditions of its lower income residents, by assisting community development financial institutions and other organizations to provide low-cost, accessible, flexible, affordable financing for housing, job development, charitable and educational services and other community projects.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

  1. In 2025, the organization, for the first time, became a certified cdfi by the u.s. Treasury's cdfi fund. This represents a threshold for organizational structure and helps increase access to financial products that can help the organization's 13-county service area produce more affordable housing and small business expansion. During 2025, the organization loaned capital to assist in expanding small business in bloomington and was a financial partner on the construction of an early learning and affordable housing center that will house three families and serve approximately 25 children in child care. In addition to providing financing for community development projects, the organization hired a program coordinator to assist in growing mission-based initiatives and outreach for the region. Together with the executive director, cdfi friendly bloomington provided 275 hours of technical assistance to regional organizations and since its inception has impact nearly 425 units of affordable housing in southwest central indiana.
