The mission of the carl j. Shapiro institute for education and research at harvard medical school and beth israel deaconess medical center ("shapiro institute or "institute") is to support, promote, and develop innovative programs and models for the dual activities of teaching and research at academic medical centers. Programs
Simulation and skills center ("center") - the center provides opportunities for trainees to practice skills for laparoscopic and other surgical procedures, to engage in team-based learning, and to enhance communication skills. The center incorporates realistic operating and intensive care/emergency rooms which allow for team training and discipline-specific educational experiences. The center's resources include a wide range of task trainers and simulators, videoconference facilities and dedicated faculty and staff to support the education of students, trainees, and practitioners in all of the health care professions.
