During 2023, Build Galveston began the following new program in furtherance of its exempt purposes that were not specifically anticipated at the time the organization applied for recognition of its tax exempt status and thus was not included in its Form 1023 application: In furtherance of its exempt purposes, Build Galveston initiated a program to improve the availability of and access to workforce housing throughout the City of Galveston (the "City"), supporting a long time objective of the City. The organization has established a fund to relieve the burdens of government through the development of various solutions to the City's workforce housing challenges. The organization is still developing its specific plans for the fund but anticipates activities such as acquisition of land for workforce housing projects, loans or other financing to stimulate development, and/or the direct development of workforce housing. In addition to the other means of fundraising indicated in its Form 1023, the organization will also solicit grants from foundations for this and any future charitable programs.

Build Galveston (BG) is Galveston island's singular nonprofit focused on workforce housing. BG is committed to the island becoming a more diverse and equitable community. Anyone who works in Galveston - first responders, teachers, healthcare workers, and young families - should be able to afford to live in homes in healthy neighborhoods on the island. To make this happen, Build Galveston is acting to connect, leverage, and utilize resources to strengthen our community's social, physical, and economic environment.
