Primary Exempt Purpose: The Black on Black Crime Task Force is a body of citizens appointed by the Chief of Police of Gainesville, Florida. The purpose of this group is to review the problems associated with crimes involving any black suspect, black victims and crimes that occur in black neighborhoods. After reviewing such data, the task force is to devise strategies designated to curtail the frequency of this type of offense. The group works in assisting the Gainesville Police Department to implement alternatives within the community that will create increased cooperation between citizens and law enforcement. The group assists in the reduction of the overall crime rate in Gainesville, Florida.
