01What it does

What Benevolent & Protective Order of 0225 Bpoe does

Mission

The fraternal order of elks was founded "to promote and practice the four cardinal virtues of charity, justice, brotherly love, and fidelity; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its members; to quicken the spirit of american patriotism and cultivate good fellowship." the local elks lodge fulfills this pledge by investing in the communities where members live and work. They help the youth develop lifelong skills, send students to college, meet the needs of veterans, support local charitable work, and fund projects to improve the quality of life in the member's communities.

As stated on its FY2026 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. The fraternal order of elks supports the minnesota assistance council for veterans (macv) by stocking a pantry for veterans transitioning out of homelessness. The offerings include hundreds of dollars in gas and grocery gift cards, along with household goods and appliances. Members connect local veterans with needed resources and help them to rehabilitate through adaptive sports programs and therapy kits.

  2. The elks supports the local community and youth in various ways. $2,000 worth of school supplies are provided for at risk students. Monetary contributions are made to the reach and my place, which are resource centers for homeless and mentorless youth. These organizations help to distribute about $10,000 worth of christmas gifts for kids in shelters. Our community activities provide $8,000 worth of scholarships to the greater mankato area. A free community thanksgiving meal serves approximately 400 people.

The 2 programs described on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2022 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income rose $6k → $9k.

1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 11% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

BENEVOLENT & PROTECTIVE ORDER OF 0225 BPOE leans on a few funders — its largest provides 67% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

33% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund BENEVOLENT & PROTECTIVE ORDER OF 0225 BPOE.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Where its funders are

BENEVOLENT & PROTECTIVE ORDER OF 0225 BPOE draws 100% of its grant income from funders outside Minnesota, across 1 state in all.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $6k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
