What Behawaiiorg does
Mission
Behawaii empowers and elevates hawaii's people by raising awareness and providing support to create prosperity.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Program
Lei poina'ole project in 2022, lpp was awarded a three-year federal administration for native americans (ana) grant. With a full-time team dedicated to strengthening the local lei industry, lpp seeks to support eight pre-existing and 16 new small and medium lei growers across hawai'I by 2025. Through community partnerships, educational programs, and a network of growers, makers, and vendors, lpp will foster relationships and create resources for future generations. Like a lei made of multiple materials of various sizes, colors, and shapes, lpp is bringing together different businesses, organizations, and individuals to support the sustainable growth and longevity of the local lei industry. In addition, lpp is ensuring the demand for local products by increasing awareness and generating demand for locally grown flowers, materials, and lei. $400,000 per grant year for 3 years 9/30/2022 to 9/29/2025. Received no cost extension on 9/26/2025 to 9/29/2026

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2023, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2023, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $92k to $73k (−21%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2023 72% · 2024 100% · 2025 100%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
100% of BEHAWAIIORG’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (57% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2022 → 2023: the base held at 2 funders, grant income fell $41k → $13k.
From the IRS filings of BEHAWAIIORG’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
BEHAWAIIORG leans on a few funders — its largest provides 39% of grant income and the top three 95%; half comes from just 2 funders.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left
44% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund BEHAWAIIORG.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2022 51% · 2023 80% — growing more concentrated.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
