01What it does

What Associated General Contractors of America Inc does

Mission

The associated general contractors of america, the voice of the construction industry, is an organization of qualified construction contractors and industry related companies dedicated to skill, integrity, and responsibility. Operating in partnership with its chapters, the association provides a full range of services satisfying the needs and concerns of its members, thereby improving the quality of construction, and protecting the public interest.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. To advocate on behalf of the construction industry by supporting pro construction federal legislation and regulations, getting involved in litigation relevant to the construction industry and educating media, elected & appointed officials and the general public about the broader benefits to the country of a strong and vibrant construction industry.

  2. To educate employees of members firms about the latest construction techniques, technologies and safety practices. To make sure they are aware of broader economic trends and how those trends impact demand for construction and to help them understand how decisions made in washington affect the way they must do business.

  3. To connect members with each other and key stakeholders, including construction owners, regulators, legislators and partners such as engineers, designers and architects. To ensure these connections allow members to learn from, and teach, each other about common industry challenges and share information about success stories, particularly when it comes to protecting the health and safety of the industry's workforce.

  4. To recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our member firms in the quality of their construction projects, the strength of their safety programs, the success of their diversity initiatives and the impacts of their charitable efforts. By recognizing outstanding firms, we also seek to encourage the broader industry to learn from those successes and improve the overall performance of the construction industry.

ASSOCIATED GENERAL CONTRACTORS OF AMERICA INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 41% of grant income and the top three 84%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

98% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund ASSOCIATED GENERAL CONTRACTORS OF AMERICA INC.
