What Art Factory Houston Inc does

Mission

Art Factory Houston is a Texas nonprofit corporation, and a 501(c)3 organization. Art Factory was created to broaden the experience of the Houston arts community by offering multifaceted programming of new and original works as well as established plays and musicals. To reduce the divide between spectator and art, we present works of theatre in an intimate setting to foster a connected and empathetic community in Houston. We also seek to make our performances accessible financially to historically underserved communities by providing significant discounts and the ability to see a show for free simply by volunteering. All of our past, present and future activities have operated, and will continue to operate within the prescribed limits of the Section 501(c)3 requirements of the Internal Revenue Code.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.

  3. New Works of Original Musical Theatre - Art Factory provides a brand new theatrical experience with the opportunity to witness the development of pieces from across the country that have not yet been presented in our area, as well as original works helmed directly by the artists of our company. Art Factory Founders Luke Hamilton and Colton Berry helmed two new productions in 2023. These productions included a Broadway Cabaret of show tunes featuring live vocalists and musicians, and a concert focusing on the music of Adele. Expenses incurred for creating new work involved purchases of sheet music, rights for songs, costumes, props, wigs, makeup, lighting and sound equipment, and other things necessary to put the productions together. Additionally, purchases were made for building supplies including cleaning supplies, water and beverages we provided at no cost to volunteers, and wood to construct the sets. As these works were original creations of new theatrical work, no rights and royalties costs were required beyond purchase of sheet music and arrangements.
