What Arizona Junior Rodeo Association Inc does

Mission

The arizona junior rodeo association is a statewide non-profit organization that has been in existence for over 50 years! Ajra is comprised of cowboys & cowgirls between the ages of 4-18 years. We are committed and dedicated to developing (continued on schedule o) (continued from 990 page 2) arizona's youth in the sport of rodeo, as well as preserving the western lifestyle. We strive to build interest, understanding, and appreciation for the western life, teach responsibility, sportsmanship, hard work, and family involvement.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. The arizona junior rodeo association (ajra) provides competitive rodeo opportunities for arizona youth ages 4 to 18. During the fiscal year, the organization had 82 members and hosted eight two-day rodeos in rural communities across the state. Contestants pay an entry fee and are divided into four age groups to ensure fair competition. Each day, participants compete in selected events, with the fastest times determining winners. Prizes include cash awards and items such as buckles, horse blankets, or buckets. Youth train for each rodeo. Points are awarded based on performance and accumulated throughout the season. These points determine winners for each event and the all-around champion. Top point earners are recognized at the final rodeo with awards such as saddles, buckles, and prizes honoring their commitment.

Who funds it, year by year

2020 → 2022: the base held at 1 funder, grant income fell $3k → $2k.

1 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 65% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

ARIZONA JUNIOR RODEO ASSOCIATION INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 65% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

65% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund ARIZONA JUNIOR RODEO ASSOCIATION INC.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $10k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
