What Arif Urban Agrarian Collective does
Mission
Part III Program Services Accomplishments - Arif Urban Agrarian Collective (AUAC) provides urban agriculture education to the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Program
Advised by our founding farmers, five women from East Africa with 15 years of farming experience, we share urban agriculture education by restoring and operating the orchard and urban garden at the Peace Resource Center. In the past year we have hosted over 200 unique volunteers to learn skills in seed starting, composting, companion planting, soil ammendment, fruit tree pruning, and irrigation. All food grown at the farm is donated to volunteers, mutual aid programs, and foodbanks around San Diego. Program funds have been used to rehabilitate this garden which has lain dormant for over 7 years. Funds were used to test soil for heavy metals before planting, test the reclaimed water system for contaminants, replace irrigation lines in the orchard, purchase upgrades to a broken reclaimed wataer pump, buy raised beds and organic topsoil, and purchase seeds and starts for the farm. AUAC has also partnered with Imperial Beach Charter school to rennovate their schoolyard garden. AUAC helped them install 10 raised beds, an automatic irrigation system, and provided tools and training to repair their irrigation system.

Who funds it, year by year
Grant support over time, funder by funder — shade shows the grant size each year.
1 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 10% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of Arif Urban Agrarian Collective’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
Arif Urban Agrarian Collective leans on a few funders — its largest provides 90% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Arif Urban Agrarian Collective.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of Arif Urban Agrarian Collective's grant income comes from California funders.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $10k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
