Mission
Aba is a trade association established for the purpose of serving the baking industry. The association's activities include encouraging legislation and regulations in the best interest of the baking industry, increasing public understanding of the baking industry, educating members concerning compliance with federal and state laws, providing a forum for industry meetings, and supplying the wholesale baking industry with workforce training programs. Aba is dedicated to the principles of free enterprise, competition and the economic health of the entire food industry, and functions primarily in the areas of government relations (federal and state), industry relations, communications, research, conventions and meetings. Aba encourages membership involvement in all phases of its activities and recognizes that membership involvement is essential to the successful achievement of its goals.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Programs
The American Bakers Association tackles key issues facing the grain-based foods industry either by initiating positive policy changes to provide more opportunities or by protecting the industry from misguided policies detrimental to business. Aba focuses on several key areas that directly impact the bottom line in the production and distribution of the industry's products. They include commodities and trade, logistics, environmental and safety, energy, food technical, safety, human resources and marketing.
The American Bakers Association provides an opportunity for aba members to network and exchange information and ideas through the annual convention.
The American Bakers Association provides industry support to key industry partners, such as the grain foods foundation.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $8.6M to $12M (+38%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 6 of the last 9 reported years ran a deficit.
