What Campbell River Volunteer Society does
Ongoing programs
In 2022-2023 we served volunteers through the Volunteer Engagement Program through a combination of in-person and online activities. Services in this program included keeping aware of volunteer opportunities in the community taking new volunteer registrations and referrals of volunteers to support community and emergency events. The most significant program we operated is the Better At Home program which provides non-medical supports to help seniors stay in their homes. Funding for this program and operational support is provided by the United Way of BC (on behalf of the Government of BC) and has allowed staff and volunteers to serve seniors in our local community with a combination of: grocery shopping friendly visiting contracted light housekeeping and contracted transportation primarily to and from medical appointments. Additionally to support seniors in the local community in the 2022-2023 year we transferred the Seniors Information Hub a one-stop information source for seniors family members and caregivers to another senior-serving agency. We however continued to collaborate on this program with volunteers and community partners to keep information current…
As stated on its FY2023 T3010.
The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2021 to 2022, from C$121k to C$65k (−46%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2017 59% · 2018 52% · 2019 52% · 2020 63% · 2021 21% · 2022 38% · 2023 32%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
86% of CAMPBELL RIVER VOLUNTEER SOCIETY’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (21% for the typical peer).

From the CRA filings of CAMPBELL RIVER VOLUNTEER SOCIETY’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024 is still being filed and is shown unshaded; it does not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
CAMPBELL RIVER VOLUNTEER SOCIETY leans on a few funders — its largest provides 80% of grant income and the top three 96%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund CAMPBELL RIVER VOLUNTEER SOCIETY.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2018 100% · 2020 44% · 2021 79% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — broadly stable.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024 is still being filed and is shown unshaded; it does not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
87% of CAMPBELL RIVER VOLUNTEER SOCIETY's grant income comes from British Columbia funders.
In-province vs out-of-province, by year
Funder regions come from each funder’s own filing. C$22k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 regions is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024 is still being filed and is shown unshaded; it does not move any figure on this page.
